Here are some pictures of my Back Yard as the year goes by, starting with a breif explanation of why I enjoy my Back Yard because of what I see and want to share with you.

About Jims Back Yard:

Jims Back Yard and Nature Trail is approximately a one mile long trail , through a Maine wooded area of about seven acres, it is visited by and home to various types of wildlife, and I have seen and photographed some, and posted them on my web-site such as White Tail Dear, a Canada Lynx, Raccoons, Woodchucks, both Red and Gray Squirrel, Chipmunks, Wild Turkey, Fox, Skunk, Moles, Field Mice and other varieties of mice, Frogs, Toads, and even a Black Bear has been sighted.  Also many types of birds have been sighted in and around my small seven acre wood lot that I have been progressively working to improve to attract wildlife of various types, especially birds which I enjoy watching very much.

The Bard Owl, has been a common visitor as well as the Great Horned Owl, and the last couple years  I was able to watch a family of Cooper Hawks grow up in trees about 50 yards from my house.

The types of plants that I have been putting in have been in an effort to attract all types of birds, and I hope to keep putting the pictures of whatever I am able to see on my web page for all to enjoy.

So I hope you will visit often

Friends are always welcome to send their comments.

This site page is dedicated to the natural beauty of creation.
Thank you for visiting, Jim

What would summer be without Flowers and a Hummingbird.

The woodpecker was enjoying his food after a 54" snow storm in Feb. 2008
The Fawn Stayed around the house and at times has slept right next to the house.
That is untill spring, then joined the herd.

These pictures were taken Feb. and March 2008.  The Deer were so hungry they didn't seem to care that I was standing on the deck watching them.

Well Time for some Springtime Pictures
Hope you enjoy them.

It's Just Not Maine Without Loon and Moose Pictures

We came across this Loon when canoeing she was sitting on    After we had paddled away for a while, she left the nest and
a nest and wouldn't leave even though we were very close.         went fishing.  So we decided to paddel back to the nest.

What we found when we went back were 2 Loon eggs.                Yes this is a Moose and she was looking back at you,
what a delightful discovery it was,                                                but wait till see what she and her friend do next.
and to be able to share this with you even more so!
We went on our way leaving them undisturbed.

THIS MOOSE WAS LICKING SALT FROM THE ROAD

OF COURSE MOOSE SIGHTINGS ARE NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT SEEING THE FAMOUS FLYING MOOSE!
